Untangling the Pasts of Slavery, Colonialism and Art 

A new exhibit at London’s Royal Academy of Arts shines a light on slavery juxtaposing historic depictions of slavery alongside contemporary works by African and Caribbean artists. Much like other cultural institutions have been doing in Britain of late, it represents a reckoning of sorts with the country’s colonial past.
