Successful Internship Programme by Shimuzic Foundation and Hollywood Foundation returns for second year

Following the tremendous success of our pilot programme last year, we are thrilled to announce the return of The Hub, an initiative by Shimuzic Foundation and Hollywood Foundation. This collaboration offers a platform for 10 (ten) aspiring event curators, demonstrates a shared vision to implement innovative initiatives that empower and transform the lives of young individuals. The programme fosters a positive social and economic impact, addressing youth unemployment and is designed specifically for students in Tembisa.

The Hub internship programme offers participants an opportunity to gain practical skills in all aspects of event management, including event planning, budgeting, marketing, logistics, and execution. Over the course of the programme, interns will engage in intensive training sessions and work on real-world projects, all while receiving a monthly stipend to support their journey. The second year of the programme builds on the success of its inaugural year, which saw a cohort of talented students gaining invaluable experience and contributing to several high-profile events in the community. The positive feedback from both participants and industry partners has underscored the programme’s impact and potential.

“The Hub internship programme has sharpened my skills and enhanced my creative thinking. It has helped me advance my career by allowing me to apply the knowledge I gained throughout the duration of the internship. It has given me valuable hands-on experience, further preparing me for future challenges in the marketing field” says Menzi Makhanya, a graduate from The Hub 2023 internship programme.

Key Highlights of the Hub Programme:

  • Comprehensive Training: Interns will receive in-depth training on all facets of event management, including planning, budgeting, marketing, logistics, and execution.
  • Hands-On Experience: Participants will work on real events, applying their skills in a practical setting and gaining valuable industry experience.
  • Monthly Stipend: To support their development and dedication, interns will receive a monthly stipend throughout the programme.
  • Professional Growth: The programme offers mentorship and networking opportunities with industry professionals, paving the way for future career prospects.

“This programme has already demonstrated its potential to transform the lives of young individuals in our community,” said, Ashley ‘Shimza’ Raphala, DJ, producer entrepreneur and founder of Shimuzic Foundation. “We are excited to continue this journey and offer another group of aspiring event managers the chance to develop their skills and achieve their career goals concludes Raphala.

The Hollywood Foundation’s commitment to youth empowerment and business development is a deliberate effort to strengthen the economy. This skills development programme will undoubtedly create new employment opportunities for young people in Johannesburg, enabling them to make a positive impact on the global stage. This is why we continue to support the Shimuzic Hub.”, added Babongile Mkhize, Hollywood Group Transformation Manager. Applications for the second year of the internship programme are now open, and interested students are encouraged to apply. Join us in shaping the future of event management and supporting the next generation of leaders.
