Despite Khartoum’s accusation that Nairobi infringed on its sovereignty by hosting a Rapid Support Forces (RSF) delegation, Kenya has declared that it is willing to assist in Sudan’s peace process. Sudan’s condemnation followed a gathering at the Kenyatta International Conference Center in Nairobi, where RSF deputy commander Abdel-Rahim Hamdan Dagalo hinted at a forthcoming parallel government announcement. Kenya’s foreign ministry defended its position, citing its long-standing support for Sudanese refugees. Critics, however, warn that Kenya may face international backlash for allegedly backing a rebel group against Sudan’s recognized government. Moreover, the RSF has been accused of several atrocities, including war crimes, making Nairobi’s support even more damaging for Kenya.
