The African Development Bank has officially unveiled a list of five cleared candidates for the presidential election on May 29, 2025. On that day, the bank’s Board of Governors, comprising representatives from member countries, will vote for their preferred candidate. The five cleared candidates are Mr. Hott Amadou from Senegal, Dr. Maimbo Munzele from Zambia, Mr. Tah Ould from Mauritania, Mr. Tolli Mahamat from Chad, and Ms. Tshabalala Swazi from South Africa. They were approved after a rigorous evaluation by the Steering Committee at the bank’s Abidjan headquarters. With President Akinwumi Adesina’s term ending in May 2025, the election is set to shape the future of Africa’s economic growth and financial stability.
