Africa Records Strong Growth in Millionaire Population

Africa recorded strong growth in the number of high-net-worth individuals in 2025, according to the Capgemini Research Institute’s World Wealth Report. The continent’s millionaire population expanded by 4.1% as global wealth reached a record $98.3 trillion, supported by rising stock markets, gains in artificial intelligence-related technology shares, and easing inflation. Morocco emerged as Africa’s top performer, posting a 16.8% increase in individuals with at least $1 million in investable assets. Researchers attributed the growth to the country’s expanding financial sector, rising property values, and an increasing concentration of wealthy investors. Across Africa, higher precious metal prices also contributed to wealth creation. However, the report highlighted persistent inequality, noting that just 1% of high-net-worth individuals globally control 34.8% of total wealth.
