African leaders, including the Presidents of Djibouti, Egypt, and Nigeria have joined their voices with that of their global counterparts in condemning the attempted assassination of former US President Donald Trump. Trump, who seeks re-election to the White House, was the target of an assassination attempt during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Djibouti’s President Ismail Omar Guelleh vehemently denounced the attempt, describing it as a threat to global stability. Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed also took to his X account to denounce the attack. He expressed his shock at the incident and wished American citizens a peaceful election season. Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu joined his voice with that of his fellow African leaders when he took to the same platform to condemn the attack and promise Nigeria’s support.
