Africa’s hospitality sector is experiencing record growth, with 577 hotels and over 104,000 rooms in the 2025 development pipeline, marking a 13.3% year-on-year surge. Egypt leads with 143 hotels, followed by Morocco and Nigeria. Cairo tops city rankings with 17,757 rooms. Resort developments are outpacing city hotels, reflecting growing demand for leisure travel. The franchise model is gaining ground, offering global brands faster entry via local partners. Marriott, Hilton, and Accor dominate the expansion. Construction momentum is strong in Morocco, Ethiopia, and Ghana. With over 50,000 new rooms expected by 2026, Africa’s hotel industry is rapidly rebounding post-COVID and attracting global investment.
