In the wake of the continuously evolving global security landscape, collaboration, innovation and exchange of expertise remain essential in strengthening military capabilities and addressing emerging threats.

In affirming its commitment to international cooperation, technological advancement and enhanced operational readiness, Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) participated in the Middle East Special Operations Commanders Conference (MESOCC) and the 15th Special Operations Forces Exhibition and Conference (SOFEX) held from 26 to 29 October 2026 in Aqaba, Jordan.

The KDF delegation led by the Deputy Army Commander, Major General John Nkoimo, joined military leaders, defence experts and industry stakeholders from across the globe to explore emerging defence technologies, strengthen military cooperation and exchange expertise on tackling contemporary security challenges.

Held under the patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan, the event brought together over 400 official delegations from more than 75 countries and 350 exhibiting companies. The exhibition showcased cutting-edge military technologies, including unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), counter-drone systems, cyber defence solutions and battlefield management systems.

On the sidelines of the event, Major General Nkoimo paid a courtesy call on the Joint Chief of the Jordanian Armed Forces, Major General Majdi Al-Harasis, during which he conveyed greetings from the Chief of the Defence Forces, General Charles Kahariri and reaffirmed the longstanding defence relations between Kenya and Jordan.

The discussions highlighted existing bilateral military cooperation through joint training engagements, including Exercises Swift Eagle and Eager Lion, as well as the International Warrior Competition. Major General Al-Harasis explored areas of specialised training between the two countries in counterterrorism, drone operations and counter-drone capabilities.

The Deputy Army Commander also commended Jordan’s advancements in indigenous defence technologies, emphasising the importance of innovation and self-reliance in addressing evolving security threats.

KDF’s participation in MESOCC and SOFEX 2026 provided an opportunity to explore emerging military capabilities, strengthen strategic defence partnerships and gain insights into technological advancements supporting the Force’s continued modernisation and operational readiness.
