In Lagos, the long-abandoned Federal Palace Hotel has been reimagined as Nahous, a cultural hub blending history with modern creativity. Spearheaded by cultural entrepreneur Richard Vedelago, the project restored the once-defunct site into a vibrant space for art, design, and community. Keeping much of the building’s 1970s architecture intact, Vedelago introduced contemporary touches, transforming old banquet halls into galleries, concept stores, and a furniture showroom, while preserving features like the historic kitchen—now reborn as Bar 77. The result is a bold fusion of Bauhaus-inspired design and Nigeria’s cultural heritage. With its maze-like rooms and raw industrial feel, Nahous offers Lagosians a place to celebrate the past while shaping the future.
