The Roger Ballen Centre for Photography in Johannesburg is hosting two exhibitions that connect internationally recognized photography with emerging South African talent. The first exhibition, Decisive Moment: Sony World Photography Awards, features selected winning images from the 2024, 2025, and 2026 competitions. The second exhibition, New Eyes: The Roger Ballen Centre Photography Award, showcases work by three emerging photographers: Karabo Mooki, D.M. Terblanche, and Zwelibanzi Zwane. The exhibitions aim to create dialogue between established international practitioners and the next generation of South African photographers. A supporting public program will include talks, workshops, masterclasses, guided walkabouts, and other educational activities designed to strengthen visual literacy. The awards attracted more than 430,000 image submissions from over 200 countries and territories. Both exhibitions are scheduled to run from August 15, 2026, to January 22, 2027.
