South Africa has launched the Rhino Renaissance Campaign, an ambitious 10-year plan to grow its white rhino population in Kruger National Park from just over 2,000 to 12,000. Announced by Environment Minister Dr. Dion George, the campaign responds to a drastic population decline caused by poaching and illegal rhino horn trade. The campaign brings together South African National Parks, the Tracker Academy, and the Good Work Foundation, combining high-tech conservation with ancestral tracking skills and education. With support from cross-border collaborations and wildlife rewilding efforts, the campaign aims to rebuild rhino numbers while empowering communities. Officials hope it becomes a global model for large-scale species conservation.
