African Parks, a major conservation charity linked to Prince Harry, has admitted to human rights abuses by its rangers in Congo-Brazzaville’s Odzala-Kokoua National Park. The acknowledgment follows serious allegations from the Baka community against the charity’s rangers, including beatings and sexual violence, which surfaced in 2023. In response to the allegations, African Parks ordered an independent review. Although the charity has acknowledged the abuses, it has withheld details of the findings, drawing criticism from the indigenous rights group Survival International. The charity also claims to have improved safeguarding and pledged further assessments. Prince Harry, a board member since 2023, has yet to comment.
