The 2026 Osun-Osogbo Festival is bringing together worshippers, traditional leaders, tourists, and cultural enthusiasts in Osogbo, Nigeria, for one of Africa’s most enduring celebrations of Yoruba heritage. Running from July 27 to August 7, the annual event centers on the UNESCO-listed Osun-Osogbo Sacred Grove, a revered spiritual site dedicated to Osun, the Yoruba deity of fertility and the river. This year’s program combines religious observances with cultural performances, traditional sports, an entrepreneurial fair, fashion events, and a colloquium honoring artist Susanne Wenger, whose work helped preserve the sacred grove. Beyond its religious significance, the festival supports local commerce, drawing pilgrims, scholars, and diplomats while showcasing how traditional practices continue to intersect with tourism and cultural preservation in modern Nigeria.
