
Americanah, Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s novel about a Nigerian immigrant to the United States, is set to be adapted for the screen by French media giant Canal+. Published in 2013, the book won the National Book Critics Circle Award for Fiction for that year. Beyond that, it was listed as one of the New York Times Book Review’s Ten Best Books of the year and ranked one of the 100 best books of the century in 2024, also by the New York Times. Americanah is one of several Africa-focused projects that Canal+ has in store, which include The Heist of Benin, a thriller starring David Oyelowo; The Road Home, a film about Paul Simon’s 1986 album Graceland; and Agoodjie, a project about the famed women warriors of Dahomey.
