Marrakech’s Atlas Workshops Back Emerging Filmmakers

By Culture Custodian·Edited by Editor TO·

The Marrakech International Film Festival’s Atlas Workshops has selected 30 film projects from 14 countries for its 2026 edition, highlighting the growing reach of a program that supports emerging filmmakers across Morocco, Africa, and the Arab world. The lineup, chosen from 410 submissions, comprises 14 projects in development, 11 films in production or post-production, and five Moroccan projects in the Atlas Close-Ups section. The development category includes 12 fiction films and two documentaries, with six debut features. Four of the films in production previously received development support from the program, demonstrating its continuing role in advancing projects. The initiative also includes Atlas Station, which will support eight young Moroccan filmmakers and five short films in post-production.
