Moroccan-Belgian superhero film Atoman has secured a North American theatrical distribution deal, with Pennsylvania-based Disrupt Entertainment acquiring the US and Canadian distribution rights. The release will reach at least 100 cinemas in early 2027, starting with AMC Theatres and other exhibitors, and will include new English-language versions voiced by human actors. Atoman follows Hakim, a renowned hacker, who learns of his Atlantean ancestry after a powerful artifact surfaces in Morocco’s Atlas Mountains. The story revolves around Hakim’s efforts to use his newfound abilities to prevent the destruction of the world. The film is billed as North Africa’s first homegrown superhero franchise. For one, it was shot entirely in North Africa. It also features a score by Moroccan DJ Van and music contributions from regional and international artists. Atoman has already demonstrated its appeal to viewers: it had a limited French cinema release and a strong two-week run among Amazon Prime Video France’s five most-watched titles.
