Gambian Women Head to Saudi Arabia for Domestic Work Opportunities

In a bid to strengthen ties with Saudi Arabia, dozens of Gambian women have traveled to the Gulf nation to work as domestic workers. The initiative, backed by the Gambian government, aims to boost employment and economic collaboration with the Middle East’s largest economy. Outsource Recruitment Agency, responsible for facilitating the placements, reported that 25 women departed in February, followed by four more last week. While the program offers job opportunities, concerns over working conditions and labor rights remain. Observers are closely monitoring the initiative’s long-term impact on both employment prospects and the well-being of Gambian workers abroad.
