The 13th Carrousel International de la Mode in Pointe-Noire, the Republic of Congo, brought together designers, models, and fashion professionals from across Africa to celebrate the continent’s textile heritage and growing global influence. Held under the theme “African Textiles: From Heritage to Global Value,” the event offered a platform to showcase how traditional fabrics can thrive in contemporary markets. Designers exhibited collections that blended cultural authenticity with contemporary fashion, including Congolese creator Marco’s use of Kuba cloth and raffia, and Cameroonian designer Tiny Tiknyemb’s exploration of national unity through traditional textiles. Organizers said the event aims to connect cultural preservation with economic development by helping artisans and designers reach wider markets. After 13 editions, the fashion gathering has strengthened Pointe-Noire’s position as a regional creative hub. The event also reflects the growing international demand for African fashion, sustainability, and culturally distinctive design.
