Rwanda, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe Recall Cough Syrup following Toxicity Report

The three countries have joined Nigeria, South Africa, and Kenya in recalling a batch of children’s cough syrup manufactured by Johnson and Johnson following reports of high toxicity. The reports came after tests by a Nigerian laboratory found high levels of diethylene glycol, a compound that can cause acute kidney failure when consumed, in the syrups.
