Tebogo and Hassan Shine at World Athlete of the Year Awards

Letsile Tebogo and Sifan Hassan claimed top honors at the World Athlete of the Year awards in Monaco, celebrating their remarkable achievements in athletics. Tebogo, Botswana’s first Olympic champion, picked up the award for male world athlete of the year after an incredible performance at the Paris Games during which he broke his own record in the men’s 200 meters. While picking up the award, he remarked on the satisfaction of hard work paying off and expressed his gratitude for being considered. Hassan, who secured her first global marathon title at the Paris Olympics and previously won the London Marathon, was named female world athlete of the year. She thanked fans and voters for the honor, acknowledging the competitive field of athletes. The event also paid tribute to Kelvin Kiptum, last year’s honoree, who tragically passed away in a road accident earlier this year.
