Shenzhen Transsion, dubbed Africa’s “phone king,” is on track for listing on the Hong Kong stock exchange and is targeting up to $500 million. The company, which owns Tecno, Infinix, and itel, plans to hold its listing roadshow next week after Chinese regulators approved its plans to go public in Hong Kong. Proceeds from the listing will fund AI research, marketing, mobile internet, and IoT initiatives. Transsion was Africa’s leading smartphone seller in 2025, with a 53.1% revenue share. However, its Shanghai-listed stock has fallen nearly 19% this year. Despite that decline, the company reported strong operating growth during the first four months of 2026, when net profit increased 121.6% year over year, and revenue rose 30%.
