Airtel Money Targets $7 Billion London IPO

By Tech Cabal·Edited by Editor TO·

Airtel Money has priced its London initial public offering at $2.59 per share, valuing the mobile money business at about $7 billion ahead of its October 14 debut. That valuation falls short of the $8 billion to $9 billion range reported when the listing was announced. The company plans to sell 270 million existing shares, raising roughly $698.5 million, with another 27 million available through an over-allotment option. Most of the proceeds will go to existing investors, including Qatar Holding and Mastercard, while Airtel Africa will remain a long-term strategic shareholder rather than sell shares in the base offering. About 16.5% of shares will be public, rising to 17.5% if the option is fully used, making the firm eligible for inclusion in FTSE UK indices.
