The series, which promotes electric marine technology and sustainability, held its first race in Angola in Luanda after debuting in Africa in Lagos, Nigeria, last year. Tourism officials see the event as an opportunity to increase international awareness and attract visitors and investment to the country. However, E1 faces questions about the environmental cost of its global operations.
