BasiGo is accelerating plans to expand beyond Nairobi, aiming to roll out inter-city electric bus services supported by a growing network of charging stations. The company is in talks with fuel retailers to install charging infrastructure along the coast and in central and western Kenya. With over 100 buses on the road, 20,000 daily passengers, and nearly 500 pending orders, the startup—backed by $42.5 million in Series A funding—is racing to keep pace with demand. BasiGo also just launched a scheduled commuter service with app-based pre-booking and is piloting electric light trucks for last-mile delivery. While financing gaps and limited infrastructure remain major hurdles, BasiGo’s rapid growth highlights Kenya’s push toward cleaner transport.
