Burkina Faso has opened its doors wider to the continent, announcing that visas will now be free for all African citizens. The decision, recently approved by the Council of Ministers, applies to nationals of all 54 recognized African states, though not to territories without sovereignty. Authorities say the move, tied to the 2025 financial amendments law, aims to boost tourism and business rather than eliminate visas. Until now, travelers faced steep costs, with tourist visas priced at around $98 and multiple-entry business visas at $217. This new measure follows the 2023 rollout of an electronic visa system, signaling Burkina Faso’s continued push to attract more visitors and boost cultural exchange and economic activity.
