Cameroon has won its first Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title after defeating debutants Malawi 3-0 in Rabat. The Central African country took the lead through Marie Ngah Manga in the 20th minute before Naomi Eto doubled the advantage 10 minutes later. Eto then created the third goal in first-half stoppage time, setting up Ngah Manga for her fifth tournament goal. Malawi, ranked 153rd globally, had reached the final riding the attacking form of sisters Tabitha and Temwa Chawinga, but Cameroon’s defense largely neutralized them. The win caps a remarkable turnaround for Cameroon, which missed the 2024 edition and initially failed to qualify for the just-concluded tournament. Both finalists, along with Morocco and Algeria, also secured spots at the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil by virtue of reaching the tournament’s semifinals.
