A large refugee camp in Chad with tents and displaced people, amid border closure after deadly RSF attack on Sudan. Humanitarian efforts continue.

Chad has abruptly closed several border crossings with Sudan after an attack blamed on the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) killed 13 Chadian soldiers, raising fears that Sudan’s conflict could spill across the frontier. The shutdown affects key crossings, including Tina, Adré, Forbaranga, and Umm Dukhun, which are widely used by humanitarian groups delivering aid into war-torn Darfur. Authorities say the move is a precaution as fighting between RSF fighters and the Sudanese army intensifies near the border, particularly around the strategic town of Al-Tina, one of the army’s last strongholds in Darfur. While the closure aims to prevent armed infiltration, it also threatens to disrupt already fragile relief operations and deepen the humanitarian crisis in western Sudan.
