In a powerful homecoming speech at Enugu’s inaugural Things Fall Apart festival, renowned author and activist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie called for unity among the Igbo people amid rising violence by an armed separatist movement in southeastern Nigeria. Adichie, dressed in vibrant African prints, lamented the region’s loss of warmth and identity, urging Igbos to “clean our own house” and unite before demanding political justice.
