The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has reached full production capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, enabling it to ship roughly a dozen fuel cargoes to five African nations, including Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, and Tanzania. The move comes at a critical moment, offering African countries a new source of supply amid disruptions from the Middle East. For a continent long reliant on imported fuel, the refinery’s operations could slash delays caused by logistics. Owned by Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, the $32.7 billion facility, Africa’s largest, is now poised to reshape fuel markets across West, East, and Central Africa. Meanwhile, plans are underway to nearly double the refinery’s capacity by next year, further strengthening the region’s energy security.
