Dangote Wealth Surges as Refinery IPO Opens

By Nairametrics·Edited by Editor TO·

Aliko Dangote’s net worth has surged to $51.3 billion, according to Forbes, following the launch of the initial public offering of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals. The offering, scheduled to close on October 13, is expected to become Africa’s largest public share sale. The IPO forms part of Dangote’s effort to broaden public ownership of the refinery while raising capital for expansion. Dangote’s wealth, closely tied to Dangote Cement and the broader Dangote Group, has swung dramatically over the years—from about $10.1 billion in 2011 to a low of $8.8 billion in 2019, before rebounding sharply as the refinery became operational. Forbes had valued him at $28.5 billion in its 2026 rankings, meaning his fortune has nearly doubled since March.
