The Democratic Republic of the Congo’s ongoing Ebola outbreak has grown to 808 confirmed cases and 192 deaths, according to the Ministry of Health. Health officials recently reported 26 new infections and 11 additional deaths in a single day, highlighting the speed of transmission. The epidemic, declared in May, is concentrated in the eastern provinces of Ituri, North Kivu, and South Kivu, where authorities continue emergency response operations. The current outbreak involves the Bundibugyo strain, a less common variant that has complicated containment, with a case fatality rate of 23.8%. Nevertheless, progress has been recorded in the fight against the disease, with the latest update showing that 48 people have recovered.
