Kenya has recorded its first Ebola death after a citizen who had lived in the Democratic Republic of Congo for seven years became ill and died in Nairobi. Health Minister Aden Duale said the patient, infected with the Bundibugyo species, traveled from DR Congo through Kampala before flying to Kenya. After developing symptoms consistent with the virus, he was isolated and tested, with the results confirming he was infected. At least 28 contacts, including relatives and health workers, have been identified, while authorities are tracing 23 passengers and four crew members from the flight. Kenya’s case is linked to a wider outbreak in DR Congo, where the World Health Organization has recorded 8,463 cases and 4,082 deaths.
