Nigeria has become one of the Sahel’s most dangerous insecurity hotspots as worsening violence spreads across multiple regions. Analysts blame weak governance, under-policed rural communities and overstretched security forces for allowing extremist networks to expand. Violence linked to Boko Haram, ISWAP and emerging militant factions has displaced communities and strained regional stability.
