Despite decades of agricultural research producing viable solutions to climate change, food insecurity, and market access challenges, too few innovations move beyond pilot programs into widespread use, according to CGIAR’s Scaling for Impact Program. The organization argues that scaling should be embedded into research from the outset rather than treated as an afterthought, requiring early attention to financing, regulation, delivery systems, and market incentives. Examples from Nigeria and other African countries demonstrate how connecting research with public investment has accelerated the uptake of climate-resilient technologies. The program contends that systematically bridging science, policy, and financing is essential to delivering lasting improvements in food security and agricultural development.
