Uber is taking a wild turn in Kenya with the launch of Uber Safari, a new feature offering expeditions into Nairobi National Park, the only wildlife park located within a capital city. The ride-hailing giant, which has been in the East African country for 10 years, is targeting the $4.3 billion tourism sector by catering to business travelers looking for a quick adventure while in Kenya. Through the app, riders can pre-book three-hour guided tours to see lions, rhinos, buffalo, and leopards, with daytime safaris priced at $194 and night rides at $310. By partnering with local tour operators, Uber aims to boost earnings for safari guides while strengthening the tourism sector, which contributes over 10% to Kenya’s GDP.
