Grand Egyptian Museum Ranks Among World’s Most Visited

The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) in Giza has become the world’s third most-visited museum just months after opening. According to reports, the museum has attracted between 6.5 million and 7 million visitors since it opened in November last year, placing it behind only the Louvre and the Vatican Museums. Located near the Giza Pyramids, GEM houses over 100,000 artifacts spanning Egyptian history, including 20,000 items displayed publicly for the first time, such as the complete Tutankhamun collection. Other attractions include the newly restored second solar ship of Khufu, a 3,200-year-old statue of Ramses II, a six-story Grand Staircase lined with ancient relics, and a new heritage library housing 17,000 rare volumes on archaeology and Egyptology. The achievement reinforces Egypt’s strategy of leveraging its rich historical heritage to drive tourism and economic growth.
