Guinea is increasing direct state participation in its gold industry through a new 50-50 partnership between Nimba Mining Gold and Australian producer Resolute Mining. The venture, Landaya Gold, will explore gold-bearing areas and potentially develop mines based on the results of its assessments. The agreement builds on a memorandum signed in March covering geological studies, resource assessments, and potential large-scale projects under Guinea’s Simandou 2040 development program. Nimba Mining Company, established in 2025, operates across bauxite, gold, refining, and mining services and has already taken over the Tinguilinta bauxite mine. Resolute brings decades of African mining experience, having produced over nine million ounces of gold from ten mines, and currently operates projects in Mali and Senegal.
