Hollywood’s adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi’s “Children of Blood and Bone” is placing African music at the center of a major fantasy franchise. Grammy Award–winning Nigerian singer and songwriter Tems has been appointed as the film’s executive music producer and soundtrack curator, with oversight over the soundtrack’s creative direction and artist selection. The soundtrack is expected to feature tracks by several Nigerian artists, including Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, Fireboy DML, and BNXN. The approach builds on earlier Hollywood projects such as “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” and “Mufasa: The Lion King,” which used African musical leadership to strengthen cultural identity and global appeal. The development also reflects the growing international reach of African music, as streaming and soundtrack collaborations create new links between artists, audiences, and film franchises.
