Uganda’s Jacob Kiplimo reclaimed the world half-marathon record with a stunning performance in Lisbon, finishing in 57 minutes and 20 seconds, ten seconds faster than the record set by Ethiopia’s Yomif Kejelcha in 2024. The 25-year-old, a three-time world cross-country champion, previously held the record on the same Lisbon course in 2021 with 57:31. Kiplimo’s 2025 Barcelona run of 56:42 was disqualified due to pacing issues, making this victory even sweeter. Pushing through each stage with precision—13:28 for the first 5km, 27:00 at 10km, and 40:52 at 15km—he accelerated in the final kilometers to secure the record. Kenya’s Nicholas Kipkorir and Gilbert Kiprotich rounded out the podium, finishing second and third.
