Kenya has confirmed its eighth Ebola infection as the outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) spreads to another province, heightening regional health concerns. Kenya’s Health Ministry said a 49-year-old man tested positive after developing fever, headaches, and muscle pain. The patient, who worked as an attendant cleaning utensils and linen, was suspected of exposure to the country’s first recorded case. The first patient died on October 5, while the other six patients are reported to be stable and under supportive treatment. Meanwhile, Congolese authorities confirmed two cases, including one death, in Nord-Ubangi province, bringing the outbreak’s geographic spread to eight provinces. The epidemic, declared in mid-May, has recorded at least 9,400 cases and more than 4,500 deaths in the DRC.
