Lagos Prepares to Showcase Africa’s Fashion Industry

Lagos will host CANEX WKND from November 5 to 8, 2026, bringing African fashion into focus as the continent seeks to expand its creative industries and strengthen access to international markets. Organized under the theme “Where African design meets global markets,” the event will connect designers with buyers, retailers, and other industry stakeholders through curated exhibitions, showcases, and export-oriented programming. The initiative builds on the Creative Africa Nexus, launched in 2021, and Afreximbank’s commitment of $2 billion to support Africa’s creative and cultural sectors. Its scope extends beyond fashion to include film, music, literature, gastronomy, arts, crafts, and design. The gathering aims to help African designers scale production, develop businesses, and compete internationally.
