Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, Nigeria’s business capital, has revealed that four new data centers are under construction in the state as part of broader efforts to boost digital infrastructure and attract global tech investment. Speaking during a visit by Sweden’s Crown Princess Alice Desiree, Sanwo-Olu, represented by his deputy, highlighted Lagos’ 6,800km fiber optic network and growing appeal to multinational companies like Google. In response, the Swedish delegation praised Lagos as a vital economic hub and announced it would be the site of Sweden’s first trade office in Nigeria. Furthermore, Swedish officials expressed interest in partnering on green innovation, digital transformation, and economic collaboration with Nigeria’s most populous state.
