Drissa Konaté, a Malian artist, is raising awareness of climate change through a method uniquely his own. Based in Bamako, Konaté uses buses as canvases, transforming them into vibrant works of art that depict the dangers of climate change and the human actions that contribute to it. However, his message is not all doom and gloom. Konaté’s murals are hopeful, pointing to the increased importance of trees and nature as a whole in combating climate change. Beyond painting, Konaté is also a poet. Much like his murals, his poems spread awareness of climate change and propose changes we can incorporate into our lives to minimize its effects.
