Malian Insurtech Secures Funding to Protect African Farmers Against Climate Risk

10
Malian insurtech startup OKO is cultivating a more secure future for African agriculture, securing a substantial six-figure investment round to expand its mission. Led by Catalyst Fund, this new capital will help OKO scale its innovative, mobile-based crop insurance products designed specifically for smallholder farmers. These solutions provide a critical financial safety net against increasingly unpredictable climate patterns. Operating in Mali, Ivory Coast, Uganda, Mozambique, and Angola, the startup has already insured over 33,000 farmers and fulfilled all validated claims, building strong trust. The funding will accelerate partnerships with financial institutions and agribusinesses, embedding automated insurance into agricultural value chains. This strategic move helps de-risk the entire sector, proving that climate resilience is not just a necessity but a smart investment.
