Morocco Emerges as Africa’s Silver Production Leader

Morocco has been ranked among the world’s leading silver-producing countries, making it the only African nation to appear on Visual Capitalist’s latest list of top producers. According to the latest ranking, the country produced about 373 metric tons of silver, reinforcing its dominance in both Africa and the Middle East and North Africa region. Morocco dominates silver output across the Middle East and North Africa, supplying nearly 95% of the region’s production and contributing close to half of Africa’s total silver yield. Despite this regional dominance, Morocco remains a modest player globally compared to top producers Mexico, Peru, and China. The ranking comes as global silver demand has outpaced supply for five straight years, tightening markets and intensifying pressure on producers to ramp up output. Industries like electronics and renewable energy drive consumption for the metal.
