Morocco has unveiled a sweeping $7.8 billion plan to modernize its public transport system by 2029, signaling a major push toward cleaner, smarter mobility. The investment includes $1.1 billion for 3,750 eco-friendly buses and $6.7 billion for new trams, commuter rail, and regional lines. Leading this shift, the Casablanca-Settat region is dedicating nearly $2.5 billion to an integrated transport model centered on a low-emission train-tram network supported by upgraded buses and a digital platform for real-time passenger services. This investment is already yielding positive results, with early data showing improved air quality as more people shift away from private cars. As a result, Morocco’s investment is improving the quality of life of its citizens and positioning the country as a continental leader in green urban development.
