Kenya preparing to license the Uganda National Oil Company (Unoc). This move effectively ended months of a big disagreement that spilled over into the regional court and harmed diplomatic relations between the two countries. Sources claim that the license should be issued as early as next month. Kenya’s energy dispute with Uganda late last year resulted in an estimated $200 million loss. According to new statistics, Uganda’s loss lasted three months after opting for a different oil partner in October 2023. Last year, both East African nations had an energy conflict, prompting Uganda to respond quickly and decisively. This dispute was quickly followed by legal actions, as both nations hoped to plead their case in front of the regional community.
