Nigeria Courts Investors for $78.5 Billion Project Portfolio
Nigeria has presented 65 investment opportunities requiring $78.5 billion in capital as the government seeks to attract private investment, create jobs, and accelerate economic growth. The projects, unveiled at the IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings, span energy, manufacturing, mining, transportation, agriculture, technology, healthcare, and urban development. Major proposals include a $1.7 billion crude oil infrastructure platform, a $1.29 billion Lagos railway project, and a $2.69 billion fertilizer facility. Officials estimate the pipeline could create 366,763 jobs. The government has also established a dedicated deal room that will provide interested investors with project details and direct access to relevant authorities. Officials also pledged reforms to electricity pricing and measures to address regulatory bottlenecks. The development comes as Nigeria targets 7% economic growth by 2027/2028.
