Nigeria Eyes Aircraft-materials Market With Titanium Project
Jamabojet 11th Aircraft
Nigeria is pursuing a titanium processing project in Ondo State through a partnership between the state government and a Nigerian company, PyVee Limited. The initiative, which has an estimated cost of $362 million, aims to process locally sourced ilmenite into titanium dioxide pigment and titanium sponge. These products serve industries, including paints, plastics, aerospace, and medical equipment. Ondo has allocated just over 100 hectares for the project in exchange for an equity stake, although its ownership percentage has not been disclosed. The broader investment could help Nigeria capture more value from its mineral resources and develop domestic industrial capabilities. However, the full project financing has not been confirmed, and no aircraft manufacturer or defense company has been identified as a prospective customer.
