Nigeria has launched a new air cargo corridor linking the country to key markets in East and Southern Africa, marking another step in implementing the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). Developed in partnership with RwandAir and the United Nations Development Programme, the route will support exports of Nigerian-made goods to countries including Rwanda, Kenya, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. The launch follows strong trade performance, with Nigerian exports to African countries reaching about $3 billion during the first quarter of 2026. Eight Nigerian companies have already received certificates allowing them to use the new logistics platform, part of a broader push that includes a $1 billion export financing facility.
